  • VMware ESXi 4.0 244038 reboot got reset by itself ?

    Hi all,

Last night one of my ESXi host got restarted by itself for unknown reason, I have access to this URL: https://ESXi02/host is there any way to know what may cause it to reboot all in a sudden ?

If anyone have this experience before please share it here as well.

FYI: the datastore got only less than 20 GB of free space with 20+ VM inside the LUN

    Thanks,
    Albert

Re: VMware ESXi 4.0 244038 reboot got reset by itself ?

The logs are not persistant on the ESXi Host.

Did you ship the logs to an external Syslog Server?

thanks for the reply man, do you mean that the log is "circular" or always got reset after x amount of time ?

at that time no it wasn't saved into the syslog server, now I've setup my vMA to collect the log from all of my ESXi

I would not call it circular, but it is not persistant through reboots. The ESX goes down, the log is flushed

The vMA solution is the way to go.
