  • DL 320 G6 Raid 1 advice please

    Good morning.

I would like to instal esxi 4 on a DL320 G6 to run SBS2008 std.

I have two 500 GB disks set up as RAID 1, however the VMWare sees the disks as two seperate disks., so I get to choose on one or the other.

How can I get the installer to see it as a raid 1 so that I can run a mirorred set up ?

( Incidentally, is this the right way to go ?)

    Many thanks.

Have you configured a hardware raid or are you trying to configure a software raid?

The server has a Smart Array B110i SATA RAID, which I read as supported, but it seems only for esx, not esxi.

      I have 2 x 250 GB sata disks, and 2 x 500 GB sata disks.

I would like the vm's to go onto a mirrored disk as it's important that I have redundancy.

Do you know what would be the best configuration with this equipment ?

Linked HERE is that configuration guide from HP for your particular RAID controller. For the configuration you have listed the only option you have is to set up to RAID 1 sets. One with the 250GB drives and the other with the 500GB drives.
