  • Snapshot - a general system fault

Hi, when I try to take a snapshot of a VM it fails with an error:
    'A general system fault occurred'

I am pretty new to VMware, can anyone advise how I go about troubleshooting this? should i look at logs, any in particular?
    hope someone can help!

Re: Snapshot - a general system fault

Hi, after further looking into this I have gone to the Datastore in Vcenter, then from the VM I have chosen 'Browse Datastore'
it then just never gets past 'Searching Datastore....'

The other VM's on the Datastore are fine.
        Any ideas?

          Hi,

Just restart the "VMWare tools service" on your guest machine. then you can try to take the snapshot.

          good luck
