  • HA Slot Sizing Calculation

    Hi

    I'd like to run this past you guys and gals to make sure i am doing my calculations correctly:

    I have 1 x ESXi 4.0 U1 cluster with a bunch of VMs with no MEMORY or CPU reservations set on them. Therefore:

    CPU slot size = 256 MHz
    MEM slot size = 0MB + highest memory overhead for VM in cluster = 370 MB

    Total host MEMORY = 18427 MB
    Total host CPU = 8 x 2.833 GHz = 22664 MHz

    CPU slots = 22664 / 256 = 88.5
    MEMORY slots = 18427 / 370 = 49.8

    Therefore I have 49.8 slots per host?

    (all my hosts have the same amount of MEMORY and CPU and HA is configured to tolerate 1 host failure, no advanced settings have been configured)
