  • VMDK files not updating daily

I am running a Linux based VMware guest server on a Windows 2003 Std. host. In the process of logging off the server nightly in order to copy the config files to an external disk, I noticed that the the VMware files for the guest server were not changing dates (or updating) daily. The last time the files did change were when the host server was rebooted. I use scripts to shutdown the guest, flat copy the config files to an external disk, and then bring the server back up all automatically.

Does anyone have an idea of what is causing this and where I should look next to resolve this issue?

    Thank you,

If your VM was in snapshot mode, the parent disk will be read only and the last write to it would have been during or just prior to the snapshot date.
