  • Problem Converting Physical Machines to Virtual Machines

    Hello,
i've a similar problem with my virtualized windows xp sp1.

When i try to login it ask me to activate windows (on the physical i don't have this issue).
If i click on "yes", it say: this windows license is already active. Please login again.
So i click OK and then again... But it always appear.
I tried to click no, but it logs off and wait on ctrl+alt+del screen.

Tried starting in safe mode, but i can't disable starting of 2 vmware-converter processes and i can't uninstall vmware converter...

    Any suggestion?

    Thank you all.
    Best regards,
    SN

Does the XP machine have an OEM license ? If so you will need to run a system repair and use a different license key. I had this issue , took me ages to figure it out.

Also a good idea to remove 'old' hardware from device manager

To get rid of unwanted driver, device, or service:

    1. Open the “Start” menu and choose “Run”
    2. Type in “cmd” (without the quotes) and click “ok”.
    3. At the cmd prompt, type in “set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1” (without the quotes) and press enter.
    4. On the next cmd prompt line, type in “devmgmt.msc” (without the quotes) and press enter.
    5. In the Device Manager Console, from the “View” menu, select “Show Hidden Devices”.
    6. Uninstall the offending Devices.
