  • ESXi 3.5 administration

I have some questions being new to the virtualization game. We currently have 1 esxi 3.5 server in place and plan on adding two more in the next couple months, with about a dozen or so hosts between the esxi servers.

My question is what is the recommended backup, I have been looking at vRanger by vizioncore and seems to have a pretty good following of supporters.

Also should I be looking at any management tools that are must haves ie. vCenter?

    Re: ESXi 3.5 administration

If you would like to cetrallay manage all your ESX hosts you will need a vCenter server.
You could go with an Essentials Bundle License which will be enough for 1 vcenter and 6 CPU licenses for ESX

You can also try the free version of veeam monitor but this is highly limited in functionality.
