    Re: P2V for Domain server

It's simple enough to just build a new VM, join to domain and dcpromo it.

I'd rather do that than P2V a DC - Just my preference

TBH I've never P2V's a DC. You may have issues starting it up for the first time if you have teaming software installed which could hang AD for a while. Give it a try and see.

          Re: P2V for Domain server

It is not worth the effort to P2V the DC - if all it is doing is a GC and DC - then it is much easier to build a new VM, dc promo, transfer roles, remove old DC

There are too many issues that you will encounter because of the change in hardware (or actually removal of) when you p2v and issues of replication not working correctly after the conversion.

          Go for a clean install!
