  • Critique my Planning

    Hi,

I have a particular project I'm working on for a client.

Basically, we have one ESX server, one Win2k3 server, with a DAS MD1000.
The MD1000 has 5 drives in a RAID5 array, 1 is a hot spare, with a total of about 400GB or so, presented obviously to the 2k3 server.

Our intent is to vconvert the 2k3 server.
Destroy the existing volumes on the DAS.
Connect this to the ESX host.
Create two new logical volumes on the DAS - one RAW to present back to the initial server we converted and the other VMFS to provide additional space to the ESX machine.

Are there any flaws in my plan ?? Is it doable ? can I have a RAW volume on a DAS for ESX ?

    No.. I can't...
Seems you can only use RDM with a SAN..
