    Look in your VI client logs.

      I have found out following error message from vi log
      ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++
      [viclient:SoapTran] 2009-03-26 10:28:31.494 Finish Invoke 877 - Serial:0.004, Server:300.015 - PropertyCollector:ha-property-collector.WaitForUpdates [ERROR]
      VirtualInfrastructure.Exceptions.RequestTimedOut: The request failed because the remote server took too long to respond.
      System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out
      ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++

      but it was ok when i tried export from appliance in my 10/100 mbps notebook.

      both computer, notebook and desktop, has 10/100 mbps Intel network adapter.

      why only desktop has a problem?

        Re: "Failed to export virtual appliance: I/O error occurred"

        In my case, the export error was caused by a weakness that pushed VI client beyond its tolerance for errors. The only way I was able to export the appliance was to abandon VI client and use VMware vCenter Converter 3.0.2 to do the export. You can download it for free from http://www.vmware.com/download/converter/download.html
