  • ESX logs

    Hey,

I had a downtime (sudden restart of the server) on my ESX 3.5 server.

I would like to review the logs of the ESX.

    My questions are:

    1. Where do they reside ?
    2. Is there any software which can help read the Logs ?

    Thanks,
    Michael

    Re: ESX logs

    Hi!

Vmware infrastructure client will do just fine...

Connect to your esx server, click on "Administration" and then "System logs"

You can select trough multiple log files from drop-down menu...

    Hope it helps you...

        Re: ESX logs

The logs for ESX are located in /var/log/ and /var/log/vmware/

Log into the console and read them using commands like cat, head, tail, less
