  • VMnet1 Host-only and VMnet8 NAT IP Address

After installing vmware workstation 6 i seen Menu EDIT-->Virtual Network Setting....

    VMnet1 Host only (subnet)192.168.138.0
    VMnet8 NAT (subnet)192.168.230.0

    MY QUESTION
is any particual (private) ip address allocated to nat or host only in vmare workstation or can be use any private ip (10.0.0.0172.16.0.0198.168.0.0)range at nat or host-only or bridge.

i think some where i read use special range ip address ???????????????
(i using cable modem, my router i using 192.168.0.1 and DHCP enable)

    Thanks,

Re: VMnet1 Host-only and VMnet8 NAT IP Address

You can modify the host only and NAT network ranges to your liking. Out of the box, VMware always uses 192.168.y.z, randomizing the last two octets. There is nothing that prevents you from customizing them to fit your needs.
