  • Slow san drives scanning in ESX server

When we try to rescan the drives in the HBA it takes 30 minutes to rescan the new drives which was presented to ESX server from SVC.

And how is this related to Hyper-V? And if it's not, then why you posted it here?

Re: Slow san drives scanning in ESX server

We had the same issue. It turned out to be because we have many VM's with RDM's. Scsi locks on the RDMs slow everything down because VMware cannot gain access to them. There is a host setting available in VirtualCenter:

      configuration tab\advanced settings\scsi\Scsi.ConflictRetries
the default is 80. So it is retrying 80 times on each RDM. I set it to 10 run my scan and then set it back to 80.
