  • ESXi wont connect to IBM X3650 CD/DVD Rom

Any ideas on why my newly created VM on ESXi will not see my CD/DVD Rom. I cant even get my 2k3 DVD to boot to begin the OS installation.

In the virtual machine settings, hardware tab, u can click add and try add the cd rom, or just direct it to the iso and see if that helps.

Your physical CDROM is mapped to the virtual CDROM but it's not "connected". Use the VIC to "connect" it by checking the box.

As uk_network suggested, using an .ISO image is light years faster.

Convert the file to an ISO. Its much easier and faster. I created a network share to all bootable ISO`s and simply map the respective drive through the VMware console.
