  • SolarWinds and ESX 3.5

    Hello everyone,

We have four ESX hosts in our company. I want to monitor them in SolarWinds v.9.1. I downloaded and installed the free tool VM Monitor for SolarWinds.
I have enabled the SNMP under Security Profiles, Firewall Properties. What else do I have to do to be able to monitor the hosts?

    Thank you.

    Kind Regards,

    See:

Are you using VirtualCenter? There's SNMP configuration in there you can leverage for all managed hosts/VMs.

      Hello jasonboche,

      Thank you for the reply.

We do have VirtualCenter v.2.5.0. I want to configure the ESX hosts with a community string, and to configure it if possible like configuring a Windows client with the SNMP service (string, and IP).

Is this possible from the Management Server Configuration utility?

      Thank you.

      Regards

Did you read the link I posted above where David Davis explains how to configure SNMP on an ESX host?

          Hi jasonboche,

          Sorry for the late reply.

I have read David Davices' post. I have use the rcli to configure the community string, etc.

          Thank you.

          Regards,
