  • iSCSI shared storage on ESX/VI3

I'm trying to create a lab SQL cluster. I've masked the LUNS off and allocated them as windows partitions and pushed them to the two virtual machines.

The two virtual machines both see 'unallocated space' of 35GB. However when I try to format it on either node as the Q drive, it falls over on the other. That is to say, I can build a Q drive on each node using the space, but it is not shared because if I put a text file on the drive on one node it does not appear on the second node.

How can I build the shared storage here without problems?

Please refer to VMware's official clustering documentation. There are strict guidelines to setting up MSCS on VMware.
