  • Vmware ESX 3.x on vmware workstation 6.x

I have installed Vmware workstation 6.x on my laptop and installed ESX 3.x as one VM on my my workstation

My Laptop has two network adapters.

    1. Intel Lan Card (not connected any where. shows red X)
    2. Dell wireless adapter.

After I Install VMware workstation, I could see two VMadapters. I have created and installed VMware ESX 3.x as per insstructions on the step-by-step document and set IP address for ESX Everything fine upto this.

When I try to ping ESX vm from my laptop, It could not ping and unable to connect to ESX vmhost download VI client to manage.

There is ping response from both sides.

How can I make this workable. Please suggest me. Thanks in advance.

If you have set the ESX IP to a static IP there is no way that the ESX host knows how to get to your host, because you do not have a default gateway.

find the correct gateway for your virtual environment, set it in your ESX host, and then you will be able to get communication between the host and the guest working.
