  • Telnet replacement in ESX

    Hi Everyone,

I am running ESX3.0.2 and Telnet is not installed on it. Is there another command I can use? I just need to do the equivalent of "telnet ip port" from my ESX server.

    Thanks first.

you are supposed to use ssh there.

telnet is generally a protocol to keep away from, since it is extremely insecure

Use PuTTY (or any other) SSH client to SSH into your ESX host. To do so, you will have to install the SSH client and then potentially enable root SSH access in /etc/ssh/sshd_config (and restart the sshd daemon)
