  • VMWare Converter and Sysprep Q

Hi. this is my first post here so please be patient!

I am using VMWare ESX 3.5.1 with VMWare converter 3.0.3

I'm trying to understand the sequence of events when - for example - I p2v a Windows 2003 R2 Standard server onto the VM Cluster.

If I use Converter to hot clone the server and also check the option to change the server name and SID, when the server first boots up will there be a duplicate name and SID on the network until the process is complete?

    Or am I missing something!

    Thanks

    Dave

No worries, the sysprep/computer name change happens before the clone is brought onto the network wire.
