  • setting up static ip from HOST

I'm looking for a way to manually setup virtualsystems where there IP isn't defined on the guest OS but on the HOST (vmware player) the addresses will be on the same subnet as the HOST but I don't want the guest doing DHCP on the network.

    Hope I explained myself.

Re: setting up static ip from HOST

Use host only networking within the VM and assign static IP addresses which correspond to the subnet that is defined for VMNET1 (the default host only network on the host).

How do you know what subnet VMNET1 is configured for on your host? Drop to a command prompt and run the command IPCONFIG to see.
