  • Vmware problem/Linux problem?

Hi! Im kind of new to Linux and have been trying to install it for the last month, using Mandriva and Ubuntu but still no success.
I seem to have compatibility issue with my CPU as when trying to install Ubuntu via Vmware as a virtual computer I got the error:

    Ubuntu
kernel requires x86-64 CPU to boot
    only found i686 CPU

    Any tips??
Id really like to switch to Linux though I will use Windows for my kids but need some help with this.
I also tried installing the Wubi Ubuntu and still the computer freezes at the install.Help!!!
