  • host network vitual machines not pingable

I am a relative newbee on VMWare, but I have done a lot of reading and searching.

I have figured out how to bridge networks and give VM's access to the net via NAT, but am having problems with Host networking.

I am trying to create a test environment on my PC. According to the article posted on this site "How to Create a Network Test Lab using VMware" my setup "should" work.

I am running Vmware workstation 5.5.6 on winxp pro sp2. I have two virtual windows machines each set to host only. When they are restarted they get ip addresses 192.168.124.129 and 192.168.124.128. Both VM's can ping the gateway, the desktop OS can ping the gateway but none of the machines can ping each other.

This should be a very simple setup, so I am sure my problem is simple, but I must be missing something. Any help or suggestions welcome.

Has nothing to do with the iso. It is always on by default.
