  • vmrun start problem

    Hello everybody,

i want to start a virtual machine without the webinterface with the command "vmrun start <vmx-file>". When i do that i get the following error:

    debian:/usr/lib/vmware-vix/lib/ws_server_esx-4/32bit# vmrun start /var/vm/debian-etch/debian-etch.vmx
Host Type not specified, using the default host type
    Workstation installed version is 2.0.0
    Loading Vix implementation library /usr/lib/vmware-vix/lib/ws_server_esx-4/32bit/libvix.so

Error: Cannot connect to the virtual machine

I use debian etch (stable) and vmware-server 2.0 beta with vix implementation. I can run the vm manually via the webinterface and works fine but i want to have the possibility to just start the machines remotely via ssh for my clients.

    any suggestions?

      Re: vmrun start problem

THANKS a lot! That helped me out. For everybody else who has this problem again:

      vmrun start path-to-configfile.vmx nogui

..solved my problem. I tried it as mentioned in the other thread via ssh and got those problems. Dont know if you need it but i also added in the config files the parameter "msg.autoAnswer = TRUE".

Thanks but i use vmware-server 2.0 beta. Even if the output says it is a workstation version.

            Problem is already solved.
