  • How do I create a new machine using a VMDK file

I searched this forum, but could not find any related topics. I apologize if this has already been addressed.

First, I am new to VMWare, so I am still trying to get my sea legs here.

We are evaluating a back up program called Acronis. This program takes images of our disks and can convert them to vdmk files for use in virtualization. The only thing I cannot figure out is how to use this file. We are using VMWare Server Console (Ver 1.0.4 build-5652. I thought the import function would be the one to use, but it is looking for a .vmc or .sv2i file.

So how do I take this vdmk file and run it in a virtual space?

Found my own answer!! It is under Create new machine, then you pick custom options and select use existing.
