  • Managing disks on vmware esx server host

    Hello.

I'm new to vmware. I installed esx server 3.0.1, and am trialing it for a month.
Because it's not installed on a windows OS, i'm feeling pretty lost.
How do I manage disks on my esx server host? (eg. convert to growable, shrink etc.) vmware-vdiskmanager dosen't seem to be available for esx server.

    Thanks

you can logon to the web-based ESX control app... here you can modify vmachine settings.

you can also manage disks from the command line with vmfkstools in the ESX host. telnet or ssh (depending on how you set the firewall up during install) and run "vmfkstools -whatever " to do what you need done. the arguments are included with teh tools and available by typing "--help" after the command at the prompt.

        no problem.

did that answer your question? are you able to find the disk management tools?
