  • restore dc on vm issues

    hi all

i install GSX server it is working fine
but have an issue when recover a dc

i restore the c and system state of my dc on the vm
but the system state does not restored at the first time
so i tried again and again
the in some point it seems to restore the system state
yet the ad db does not restored.

so i can only log in dsrm
and see the ntds folder and that it missing the ntds.dit file.

note: the same procedure is done on a regular pc
with the same backup file, and no issue there.

is there is a reason for this problem?

    thanks

Did you installed the VMware tools? Did you rstore system state from another hardware on the same machine? How you restored the system state?

      hi Yuval

      > Did you installed the VMware tools?
i did it a couple of times, so in one case at least i think i did

in one case i create quite big space
and in the secound partition, copy the file there.

      > How you restored the system state?
when u just install the server os, then u can restore from there
no need to go to dsrm - am i right.

never the less, i tried all the options

      thanks

Highly unlikely this has anything to do with VMware or virtualization.
