  • cant use shared folders on XP Pro virtual PC

I have created a Windows XP Pro system under Virtual PC. When I try and set up a shared folder it tells me I must first install Virtual Machine Additions. But Virtual Machine Addition has been installed. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no effect.

None of the other systems I've set up (MS-DOS, Win 95, Win 98, Server 2003) has a problem with shared folders. Just XP Pro.

      Hi,

Sorry for the delay. I have been off on a Novell course.

There is no error message. The shared folder option is greyed out with a note that I must install VM Additions before it can be used.

Yes, I installed SP2 immediately after the XP Pro build completed.
