  • Virtual Guest NIC network cable is unplugged message

    Hi,

I'm running VS 2005 Enterprise R2 SP1 in a Win2008 64bit Data Center host. I created 2 guests; one Win03 Web with SP1 and the other Win03 STD R2 with SP2. When I bring both of these up, the NIC in each guest indicates that the network cable is unplugged. The account that is managing the VS host is part of the local Admin group, which has the appropriate rights to the folder c:\users\public\documents\shared virtual networks where the virtual networks are stored. I have a similar set up with a Win2003 host and I'm able to configure the NICs in the virtual guest without a problem. Does anyone know if there are additional permissions that I need to apply in Win08 so that the virtual guests can use the NICs?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why are you using Virtual Server 2005 on Server 2008, instead of using the (almost) built-in Hyper-V role?!?
How are your virtual networks defined? And the VMs' NICs?
