  • [newbie] Cannot set static IP

WinXP 64 bit SP 2 (host machine)
Win Server 2008 x86 (guest machine)

In order to configure a static IP within Virtual Server 2005 R2, I selected a MAC address (left default of 00-03-FF-74-AA-7A, and configured the static IP address within my Conceptronic router as well.

However, when I boot up the virtual machine (guest), no IPv4 address is being displayed.

    Has anyone encountered similar issues?

To configure a static IP in the virtual machine, you need to configure it inside the virtual machine. Not in the host (although you can enable DHCP in the Virtual Network in Virtual Server 2005 and reserve the IP to the specific MAC, but what's the point?), neither in your router...
Start the Windows Server 2008 and configure its IP from the Network and Sharing Center.
