  • 3 VM's on the same host that can't see each other

    I have 3 VM's on the same host and they cannot see each other. I have tried to ping them from each other and have failed. help

    Hi, try giving them static ip addresses and disable the firewalls.
    Please remember to award reputation points if you have received good advice.
    I do tend to think 'outside the box' so others may not always share the same views.

      All 3 VM's have static i/P and firewalls are diabled the subnet mask is the same i just don't get it

        Please provide more information:
        - what OS is the host and what hardware?
        - what environment are you in? Domain? Workgroup? Home?
        - what virtualization product are you using?
        - how did you define the network in the VM's? (screenshots may help here)

        With this new information we will be able to start troubleshooting you issue...

          Win2003 server R2 SE SP1 on a Dell poweredge 6800
          We are in a domain
          MS Virtual server 2005 R2
          2 nics 1 for host 1 shared by guests
          i'm new to virtual server if u can tell me where to get the screenshots i will get them for you
          the host can ping the guests
          guests can ping all nodes on the network except each other
          guests can ping host

            had that too in the begining
            from the virtual machine I could ping my network but not the other VM on the same host
            turned out I had to create / set up a "microsoft loopback adapter" on the host
            not within the virual machine
            once I did that I could ping the other Virtual machines on the same host

              What settings do i give the loopback adapter?
