  • Virtual or Physical for MCSE cert (was: vmware for MCSE cert)

i am soon about to start the MCSE track for XP/2k3 i am unsure what approach to take virtual vs physical machines, if i take the virtual approach will it prevent me from doing a lot of the tasks from the books from Microsoft Press?

    Thanks for any information provided.

    On the contrary.
If you have a powerful enough computer, you will be able to build inside a number of virtual machines and so you will have a full testing environment. You can build a whole domain based on virtual machines.
So, my suggestion is to use virtualization for certification track.
You'll just have to decide which product you want to use.

If you are looking at doing Exchange 2007 then I would suggest VMWare because it will run 64bit software whereas Virtual Server 2005 SP1 will not at the present. It is also worth noting that Train Signal have Training Labs on both these products and they are excellent. Working through the VMWare Lab as I type.

Train Signal are well worth looking at to help you with your MCSE training!!
