  • Guest VM Cluster inside Hyper-V Cluster

    Hello,
    I am using a 2 node hyper-v Cluster running on Windows 2012.

There is requirement of running guest vm cluster as well.
So created two VM machine running windows 2012. SQL 2012 cluster would be created.

Shared storage running is SAS based.

    Expert opinion on this please.

    Regards,
    Sushil

In 2012 R2 there is shared VHDX. But since you're on 2012, your only options for shared disks on the VMs is iSCSI, Fiber Channel, or SMB 3.0 share.

Re: Guest VM Cluster inside Hyper-V Cluster

      Hi Jeremy,

I managed to get 2012R2 installed to use shared vhdx.
Created two vhdx of 1GB for Quorum and another 40GB as shared disk.

Do you suggest if I should start installing sql cluster on the VM or has these first machines first to be added in cluster itself.
Can you suggest some link for the same.I googled but can't see any helpful link.

I am running short of thoughts.

      Regards,
      Sushil

ignore the fact that they are virtual machines.

Install the SQL environment in prtty much the same way you would if it was a physical environment.

          Ditto Tehcamel.

This isn't Hyper-V related anymore so that's where my experties ends. Here's the MS reference. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../hh231721.aspx
