  • which nic do I choose

I have a question. I have 2 physical nics on computer. One is a "local area connection" nic on my host machine, other physical nic is disabled. I have created a hyper-v internal vistual network switch. I have enabled internet sharing on the physical "local area connection" nic. On sharing of nic tab,its giving me a drop down list of nics to be selected . In this drop down list which is showing on same internet connection sharing tab, which nic do I have to choose
1 the physical nic "local area connection"
    2. the internal virtual network switch?

Please guide. I am willing to run internet connection with internet connection sharing

      Thanks for posting back.

If the VMs you are running support the Hyper-V integration services and you do not need to PXE boot, I would recommend also using a synthetic virtual NIC on the VM.

Is this for production VMs or a lab environment. If it's a lab then what you've chosen should be fine unless you're doing stress tests and are looking to get some metric on performance.

If this is for production VMs then I would recommend using one physical NIC for the host and use the second physical NIC for the VMs. To setup the NIC for the VMs, create a new External virtual switch and make sure you uncheck "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter."
