  • Hyper V Mac address

We are running a Win 2k8 R2 SP1 server with Hyper V. On the ost I am running a Virtual machine. I have setup a few virtual switches to segment traffic. One of the segments is connecting to a remote network that has mac port security enabled. They are seeing both the Virtual machine mac and the Host server mac that the virtual switch is conencted to. Is there are way to hide the host mac?

not really, because it's sending it's MAC out down at layer 2.
It's acting like a switch for the guests, and also publishing their MACs (else nothing would not how to get to it)

The reason I ask is I have an associate with a similar configuration but he is using ESX server and it doesnt pass the host mac.

it's possible ESX handles the NIC differently.
