  • Hyper-v and network adapter (problem 31)

    Hello,

We have hyper-v core installation , and after adding another card i see
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_107C&SUBSYS_13768086&REV_05\4&385 505C&0&18F0
    Name: Intel(R) PRO/1000 GT Desktop Adapter #2
    Device has a problem: 31.

as i understand , its driver problems. Is it possible to add those drivers? Or better to look for recognizable card?

Google "add driver to hyper-v core" and I'm sure you'll find the answer you're looking for.

In terms of what card to use, yes I would strongly advise using one from a reputable manufacturer rather than something generic. Intel cards are generally fine.

If the driver has a setup.exe, just run the installer. It will work most of the time. But as gforceindustries stated, use server hardware from a reputable manufacturer.

I was being vague by saying that Intel is fine... it is, but yes I would recommend "server-grade" hardware for servers. Particularly if you're running a hypervisor and therefore supporting multiple virtual servers on a single box, since this greatly increases the potential impact on your users should a problem arise.

I'd be a lot more happy to get some info about the server you've got there...
Is it a brand? It's a white computer?
And what (EXACT) version of operating server you have installed on it? Hyper-V Server? Or Server 2008 Core with Hyper-V?
