  • Backup VMs in a VHD located in a USB

    Hi,

I want to backup my VMs using Windows Backup from inside the VM to a VHD attached to the VM, the VHD itself will be located in an external USB drive connected to the HOST. Is there any down side?

    Thanks,

Apart from speed of USB devices and the risk the OS puts it into Power Saving mode, I cannot see any obvious problems with it. Since it is a backup and a zero cost solution, suggest you try it for a while and see how you get on

Is there a reason for the way you are trying to do this, rather than just backing up the VM from the Host to the USB drive?

Like that I can backup several VMS in the same HD.
