  • Migration failed, VM deleted... stuck in limbo

We had a VM that we managed with SCVMM 2008 R2. We were testing migration with it and it failed. So we ended up trying to delete the VM. We cannot. It cannot be undone, it cannot be removed, it cannot be repaired. It is simply stuck. I deleted the XML files associated with it and all folders that contain the VHD files. I don't know what else to do. In Hyper-V manager the vm does not show up so this looks like an scvmm issue. Help!

Join the club. I've got bad experience from SCVMM lately. The more I use SCVMM the more I hate such a hackjob.

I have had some success by exporting stuck VMs and re-importing them. Short of that, there is little to be done - unless you want to mess with SCVMMs database. It is a Sql Server db, so manual removing offending entries is possible. This far, I have not messed up with the DB, as I have an open support case with MS; hopefully there is a fix on its way.
