  • Hyper-V / DC issue

    Having a problem here.

Have a 2k8 box that has Hyper-V, DNS, and AD roles installed (DCPromo'd the box first).

I am hosting a number of VM's on a virtual switch. These VM's cant join the domain of the host. They can ping the DC's name, but not the FQDN. The VM's have the DC's IP as the primary DNS server.

The BPA tool on the roles is saying everything looks green as far as DNS and AD and Hyper-V are concerned.

    Re: Hyper-V / DC issue

I noticed that if i add the server info in the LMhosts file, I can join the domain. However I dont want to use this as the solution.

I can ping the DC's name, but not the FQDN (unless i have an LM entry).

When I try to join I get a login prompt, but after i try to authenticate, it says the domain sever could not be found.

Again, this is resolved with the lmhosts entry

Seems to be a DNS issue.
      How is DNS configured?
