  • Manage Hyper-V from Vista stand alone machine?

Hi. I've got a few Win2008 machines running Hyper-V RTM. They are in a domain, and the domain admin password is XYZ.

I want to manage these Hyper-V servers from a Vista machine (I've got the Hyper-V MMC console installed), but that machine is NOT a part of the domain, and the local administrator's password is 123.

(lamer note - these are examples...)

While Event Viewer allows the Vista machine to connect AS A DIFFERENT USER to other Win2008 servers, the Hyper-V MMC console does not.

Anyone have an idea on how to do that? Or is the Hyper-V MMC snap in required to be only run from a member in the domain (like the Exchange 2003 ESM)?

    Reply to myself:

See this blog by John Howard. Process is long, but it seems to work (I'll try it out on Hyper-V RTM).
