  • Installing .NET framework 3.5.1 on windows server 2012r2 standard

    Greetings,
I need to install .NET framework 3.5.1 on my brand new Windows Server 2012r2 standard machine.

I googled this to see how to do it. I launched the server manager. Did the role add and selected .NET framework 3.5. It gave an error about specifying a source so I clicked the advanced link and specified E:\sources\sxs. E is my dvd drive. I had the Windows Server 2012r2 disk in the drive. The system ground away for over an hour and never got further than 46%. I stopped the process and rebooted the server.

I then launched an elevated command prompt and typed:
dism /online /enable-feature /Featurename:NetFx3 /all /Source:E:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess. Again the 2012r2 disk was in the dvd drive (E). It got to 65.9% and ground away for 2 hours never finishing before I stopped it.

How do I Install .Net Framework 3.5.1 SP1 on this server ?

I met this in the past and, with a lot of help here, solved the problem (see http://forums.petri.com/showthread.php?t=66628 post 12/13 for a solution)
Roughly disable UAC, reboot, install, then re-enable UAC (another reboot required)
