  • share permissions with gpo

Hello. I have a Windows 2012 domain and clients are XP, 8 and 8.1. On each machine there are two folders, let's say folder1 and folder2, which I want them to be shared and accessible with full rights to authenticated users. So I created a policy, Computer Configuration-->Preferences-->Windows Settings--> Network Shares, and created %systemdrive%\folder1 and %systemdrive%\folder2. Changed Item Level targeting as required.
Also changed the GPO Computer Configuration-->Windows Settings-->Security Settings-->File System and granted authenticated users full access.
The shares are created and can access them from the network. But not with full access rights (can't copy files to them). I checked the share permissions and noticed that only "Everyone" has read only rights to the share. The NTFS permissions are ok.
Is there a way to remove read only "Everyone" and add full access "Authenticated Users" with a GPO?

Unfortunately there's no way of setting share permissions through the Network Shares preferences.

You'll have to use a Startup script. NET SHARE should give you what you're looking for.
