Re: Exchange 2013 or 2010 on 2012 Essential

Thanks Andy , I read this technet info before and what make me not sure it will work or not on Essential is this part

"On the first server, you’ll set up Windows Server 2012 Essentials (see the system requirements). On the second server, you’ll install Windows Server (either Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard or Windows Server 2012 Standard) and Exchange Server (Exchange Server 2010 or Exchange Server 2013). Note that Exchange Server 2010 SP2 only supports installation on Windows Server 2008 R2.

so Exchange 2010 don't run on regular server 2012, or only on 2012 Essential ?

I guess since it's only in a lab to learn about Exchange, I will setup both Exchange ( 2010 and 2013 ) in VM in a second 2008r2 Server, of course I will not fire both at same time.

The implication that I read is that you can't have Exchange installed directly on the Essentials server itself but it can integrate with Exchange installed on another server. Other options are Cloud based via MS or 3rd party.
