  • Windows Server 12 VM..............

    Morning All,
Happy Friday! I've downloaded the MS Server 12 VM from the Microsoft website. First of all, on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine, I installed XP mode and MS Virtual PC. I then create a new VM and point it to the file I downloaded and extracted. When I try to start the VM, it gets just past the BIOS screen and then tells me that Winlogin.exe won't run as I don't have a 64 bit processor, which I do. It's a AMD Turnion X2 64..............

Laptop also has 3 GB RAM with 3GB defined in VM....

    Any ideas please peoples?

    Thanks!

    Tom

      Re: Windows Server 12 VM..............

Server 2012 is 64 bit only, so won't run at all under virtual PC
You need HyperV or another 64-bit virtualisation platform

      Sorry...

That's a bit mad, ah well, nevermind.

Thanks for clarifying for me Tom. Have a great weekend.

If you also download Windows 8 you can run Server 2012 as a VM under Desktop Hyper-V. Might need more than 3gb RAM though to get decent performance.
