  • Unable to explore SAN connected drive in explorer but can if I inspect disk

    Hi Guys,

It seems to be nothing but problems at the minute

I've got a drive connected via an iSCSI target on Server 2012 R2 which shows as a mapped drive within explorer but I am unable to open this drive. If I use the inspect disk function within Hyper-V I can browse this disk no problem. Any thoughts what might cause this? I cant disconnect the drive as its the working folder path for a few VM's

    Thanks

Just sorted this one the NTFS permissions weren't picking up properly (although they were assigned) strange how I can browse the disk with the same user account that is getting permissions denied if Im doing it through the inspect disk within Hyper-V.

    Either way all sorted :O)

It was most likely UAC. Explorer runs under a less privileged context and if there is no non-protect user or group that has permission, it will require elevation to access.
