  • Windows Server 2012 r2 DHCP not serving addresses

    Hello Petri!

Yesterday I encoutered a DHCP problem. After windows update and restart, my dhcp won't serve any new IP addresses. The ones wich has been sent before are working but no new IP-s. I tried restarting the DHCP server the Full server sevral times but no success. The settings hasn't been changed, but I checked and it has a lot's of free IP -s and the scope is activated and the server is Authorized to serve DHCP.
I tried adding a RogueDetection disabling registry key but no success.
I tried to check it with wire shark but suprisingly from the server there is no outgoing DHCP packet. I checked from the client too and it send discovery packets but it didn't get any offer.

And now I'm out of ideas... :/

I will attach the DHCP server log and the client and server Wireshark log.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28212715/LOGS.rar

Please if someone has any other ideas or solutions, I would be very happy.

    Thanks Forward.

    Thomas

Sorry, but I'm afraid I (and most other members) will not open an unknown file from an online source - if you post the logs as text, maybe, but as RAR, no....

    Have you
    a) checked there are leases available
    b) turned off the Windows firewall
    c) checked DHCP is listening on the correct IP addresss (right click server and add/remove bindings)
    d) (if above fail) deleted / recreated scope

      What Ossian said.

Anyway, how many NICs does the DHCP server have?

Are you sure it is authorized? How did you check?

What errors do you see, if any, in the event logs?
      Cheers,

The firewall is off.I de and then re authorized. and the logs says it is authorized. There is no event connetcted to the DHCP. there is 2 NIC with 2-2 port but I only use 1 card. There is more then enough leases.
as i see the server won't send receive any DHCP request or offer.

Depending on the complexity of DHCP (number of scopes, reservations etc) it may well be worth uninstalling the role completely, rebooting and reinstalling it, then recreating the lease

14 A lease request could not be satisfied because the scope's address pool was exhausted.

That certainly looks to me like the DHCP scope is out of available ip addresses.

Is that not the summary of the possible errors at the top of every DHCP log?
If not, he is also out of disk space and has NAP errrors too!

It is only the summary, not the actual Errors.

It looks like your DHCP server possibly can't connect to your domain

                        Silly question - What's the scope's range? And what's the DHCP's IPv4 address?
                        Cheers,
