  • Join Domain First or Install Roles First?

I need to deploy several machines that will all be Windows Server 2012 R2. Should I have my PowerShell scripts set up to join the domain first or can I install my roles (Hyper-V, IIS, etc.) first then join the domain? What is best practice?

IMHO Join the domain first so the roles are under domain accounts and security if needed.
Obviously depends on the actual roles

Agreed. Join the domain first. This sets up the right security context for the roles.
