  • Windows Server Backup not recognising USB3 Seagate Drive

I have been playing with 2012 R2 essentials evaluation as a replacement for WHS2011. I'm trying to get the server backup working in the dashboard. My external USB3 Seagate 4tb Drive is not being recognised as a backup location.

It is visible in windows explorer and I've done a backup using administration tools, but can't schedule a backup there either.

What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated!

    Cracked it!

I used diskpart; cleaned it, converted it to GPT and reformatted it.

Back up now scheduled for tonight.

    YES!
