  • How to Install Windows Backup & Features from CLI

    Hi there.

I've been looking for a way to install the Windows Server Backup features (Windows Server Backup & Command-Line Tools)from command line or from powershell or any option that can be scripted and that I can later send a backup command.

I'm trying this on Windows Server 2008 R2 but I will use this in another windows 2008 variations, can someone point me in the right direction?

    regards

    Powershell basics: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/powershell/a...r-r2-beta.aspx
Use Get-WindowsFeature to check, but it should be Add-WindowsFeature Backup-Features (and possibly Backup-Tools)

Once installed, backups can be done using wbadmin (cmd) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/m.../dd767786.aspx or powershell http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../ee706683.aspx

Add-WindowsFeature Backup-Tools did the trick, awesome.

      Thank you

Sadly this doesn't work under Windows 2008.

        Does someone knows?

Not in 2008, unfortunately - unless a SP or Powershell upgrade adds the import-module facility
              R2 works fine
