  • A user being ask for admin password every time he tries to open apps

A user is being ask for admin password every time he tries to open any application but other users have no problem accessing same applications. This user is in the same security group as others.

Any knows about this problem? Please it is much appreciated if you can help with this problem. Thanks.

Have you cleared out the cached credentials from credential manger via control panel?

Check the UAC level to make sure it's the same as the others.

The UAC level is the same as other users. The whole issue is that this particular user can login using any domain computers including our remote desktop server. It is only when he tries to open an application that he is being asked for the admin password. The system is built ADDS is built using Windows server 2008 R2 and the workstations are windows 7.

Any work around this problem? Thank you in advance for any resolution to this weird problem.

OK, this puts a slightly different perspective on things. The original description led to something being different about one person's computer, but now we know it's account-related.

Being in the same security group doesn't necessarily mean he'll have the same level of access on the workstations, unless you use that security group to assign local permissions. Do users log in as local admins? Does his domain account have the same access?

Create a dummy domain account and give it the same privileges and groups as this wandering user and see if it has the same effect. This will let us know if it's the type of account that's the problem or something specific to this guy.

thats kinda what i was thinking. copy his user profile and place him in the same OU and everything, making him the same user with the same security group memberships and same policies applied to the test user as the trouble client.

attempt to replicate the issue with the test account. once you can replicate the same symptoms, then begin removing security group memberships all the way one at a time until your down to 'domain users' as the only group left, and then checking after 'gpupdate /force' to see if there was a change.

once you can find the group its much easier. then do the same with policies.

you could also run an RSOP on the trouble user and another client in the same groups/OU as him and compare the two to see what it is that is causing the problem...

and be sure to post the cause and/or solution, regardless of where or who figures it out. i would like to see what the issue is because i have had this happen before and not seen a fix that was applicable at the time.
