  • Server 2008 Certificate Problem.

    Afternoon all,

Just been handed this one and I'm a little confused about what to do next...?

Server 2008 R2 Standard with Event ID 64 "Certificate for local system with Thumbprint xxxx is about to expire or already expired."

No too much of a problem usually, just renew the certificate, went into local computer certificate mmc, found the out of date certificate right clicked > all tasks > advanced options > renew this cert with the same key, certificate enrolment wizard starts click next and it immediately fails with -

"The permissions on the certificate template do not allow the current user to enrol for this type of certificate. You do not have permissions to view this type of certificate."

Have I missed something, what's the best way to solve it?

    Many thanks

try runing the MMC console as administrator
Also, make sure you scoped it right (user/computer)
